The hours with Sudhir Tiwari offer an authentic, in-depth training in rigorous Pranayama rooted in ancient yogic scriptures and the Kaivalyadhama lineage. The program explores the definition, techniques (including variations), and effects of Pranayama, integrating insights from Ayurveda and modern scientific research. Participants receive traditional instruction grounded in the philosophy of Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga, combined with evidence-based understanding.
Sudhir Tiwari, trained from childhood at Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute and mentored by masters including Swami Kuvalayananda and Shri O. P. Tiwari, continues this distinguished tradition. Now director of Kaivalyadhama in Canada, he shares his global expertise in yoga, meditation, chanting, and Ayurveda, supported by both traditional lineage training and academic credentials. Founded in 1924, Kaivalyadhama remains one of the world’s pioneering yoga institutes, renowned for uniting classical yogic wisdom with scientific research to promote holistic wellbeing worldwide.

Ashtanga was the first method of yoga asana that introduced the concept of Vinyasa – step-by-step gradual progression to the next posture while linking the breathing to those movements. Therefore, having a base of Ashtanga is very useful to feeling the natural linking together of different poses. During the week, in the morning Linda will guide you through a Vinyasa practice, so you can experience as many ‘sequences’ as possible. Then we will explore different levels of Vinyasa classes – Soft Vinyasa, Dynamic Vinyasa for levels 1 through 3, Beginners Vinyasa – what kinds of poses are appropriate, the essence of the class, planning a class and finally building around a theme action or pose.

The Ashtanga Second Series, Nadi Shodhana (meaning “nadi cleansing”), focuses on purifying the subtle energy channels that allow prana—the life force—to flow freely throughout the body. When these channels are clear, we feel vibrant and balanced; when blocked, we may experience fatigue or mental fog. Complementing the healing foundation of the Primary Series, this 35-hour training explores the energetic significance of the chakras and offers a safe, intelligent breakdown of the Intermediate Series postures. Through personalized adaptations, anatomical alignment, props and modifications, hands-on adjustments, and guidance on readiness for the series, participants deepen both understanding and practice.

The 4 live classes explore the Primary Series as a moving meditation, where breath guides the practice, steadiness stabilizes, and ease is cultivated within effort. Over four progressive classes, the sequence is built from foundational postures to the full arc, emphasizing breath continuity, intelligent pacing, and mindful receptivity rather than depth or performance. Developing sensitivity to the flow of prāṇa, learning where to ground, soften, and maintain clarity throughout the practice, experiencing the series as an integrated, meditative movement.
Pre-recorded sessions complement the classes, offering a complete immersion in the precision and progressive development of the Primary Series. Designed to build strength, flexibility, and endurance while remaining gentle on the joints, the course develops your practice layer by layer in a way that feels stable, inspiring, and healing. With mindful guidance, pose variations, and adaptable options, you’ll learn to deepen or soften the practice according to your body’s needs—encouraging sustainable growth and long-term self-discovery.

This is a 12-class pre-recorded program that helps you understand the Ashtanga Primary Series by focusing on shared core actions across poses. By grouping postures that use the same movements, you’ll see how one pose prepares you for the next, making the practice feel more familiar and less effortful. Each class highlights a key action and demonstrates how recognizing it in multiple poses reduces strain and confusion, deepening both understanding and ease in your practice.
In this series you will be instructed on the practical anatomy around the given topic and how to better perform the asanas to respect anatomical alignment and movement in the body. It’s an essential companion to all dynamic forms of yoga asana to establish a long-lasting practice that brings us a healthy and intelligent body/mind relationship. The four sessions are: Safeguard my Knees, Safeguard my SI Joints & Lower Back, Safeguard my Shoulders, and Safeguard my Neck
