Ashtanga Yoga Paris Academy

Founded in 2004 by senior teachers Gérald Disse and Linda Munro, Ashtanga Yoga Paris (AYP) is dedicated to offering authentic, intelligent, and compassionate yoga education. Gérald began practicing yoga in 1989 and Linda in 1995; together they bring decades of experience and a deep understanding of yoga’s physical, philosophical, and spiritual dimensions.

They were the first in Paris to establish a full Ashtanga program offering Mysore-style classes — the traditional method of learning Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India. Gérald was one of the first French men to study directly with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois for eight years in India, and Linda began teaching traditional morning Mysore classes in Paris in 2002.

At AYP, the philosophy is to promote a practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga that is coherent, mindful, and adapted to each individual. The teaching emphasizes precise alignment, safe movement, and inner awareness, helping practitioners not only develop strength and flexibility but also foster emotional healing, self-understanding, and overall well-being.

In addition to Ashtanga classes — both Mysore-style and led classes for all levels — the academy offers Vinyasa Yoga, a dynamic system of āsanas derived from Ashtanga; Yin Restorative Yoga for those seeking a more meditative and gentle practice; and Pranayama classes focusing on yogic breathing techniques.

Since its creation, Gérald and Linda have personally trained their team of teachers to ensure a consistently high level of quality, integrity, and compassion in all classes. Their dedication has made Ashtanga Yoga Paris a vibrant hub for yoga in France and beyond.
